Taiwan’s Coast Guard Administration said two China Coast Guard vessels, numbered 3301 and 3303, entered restricted waters around Taiwan-controlled Dongsha Atoll at 3:34 p.m. Friday, according to Focus Taiwan. Taiwan sent the Cijin patrol ship and patrol boat PP-10032 to broadcast warnings ordering them to leave.
The administration said it has carried out 11 expulsion operations around Dongsha this year, involving 14 vessel encounters, and described Friday’s incident as an attempt to create the appearance of jurisdiction; that is Taipei’s characterisation.
In the Philippines, ABS-CBN News reported at least nine Chinese maritime assets near Bajo de Masinloc on Friday, including four navy warships, two coast guard ships, two drones and a patrol aircraft.
Separately, USNI News said Chinese Y-9 electronic intelligence aircraft flew over the East China Sea three days running, prompting several Japanese fighter-jet scrambles. The reports describe monitoring, warnings and surveillance, rather than any reported collision or injury.
